This news just in...apparently new studies revealed football is a contact sport, and healthy people can get injured when they play it.

What's the deal with him saying that the Fiesta Bowl is a glorified exhibition game? ALL BOWLS are glorified exhibition games.... even the BCS NC.

He should stop playing in the NFL as well, since he's got $26.2 guaranteed. On that note, AD should just stop going to class as well. I wish I would have done that... stopped going to class when I found out I got into lawschool.

Well, I think he meant THIS Fiesta Bowl with OU vs. Boise State is an exhibition game. ;)

So...according to him, all players who have NFL potential should stay out of all bowl games so as not to jeopardize their possible NFL careers.

That'd ensure a playoff real quick like, when all the bowl sponsors pull out,

Just don't understand the thought process of not playing if you are able. If I buy a new car, do I still drive my old one because I might get into an accident?

Adrian is 100% ready according to what I hope are qualified doctors.

"Mr. Peterson, here are your pads. Please suit up and go kick some arse!"

So....let's say he goes out there and breaks his wrist.

Does this make the pundits correct? Or are they only talking about re-injuring the collar bone?

Since when did people (namely the press) become so concerned about players jumping from college early? Seriously, think about it. Wasn't it just a few years ago that they were the same morons screaming "a college education is important!". Is it really selfish for Stoops, and Sooner fans to want AD to stay another year? Or, is it selfish to want AD to leave so that soom knob can pick him up on his fantasy team? I mean what is this really about? Ask yourself "why do people really want AD to leave?"...I'm sure it's for his best interest....right? NOPE!

AD should do what AD wants to do. That's the bottom line. If he leaves, then yes, I agree that Stoops and fans should say "Thanks AD for 3 years, and all you've given us to be proud of. We hope you do well!" BUT, if he stays and something does happen to hurt his NFL stock, then it shouldn't be reflected on Stoops or anyone else. But, as we all know, it would be.

So basically, this pole-smoker is saying that every junior or senior who's entering the upcoming NFL draft and doesn't play for Ohio State or Florida should quit on his teammates and coaches and sit out his team's bowl game. Never met the writer, but my first guess is that he's 5'4", 300 lbs and couldn't run a lap around his living room without coughing up nine pounds of sausage. Nobody who's ever competed at anything in life and understands sports and competition in the team framework could possibly hold this butt-muncher's viewpoint. F*** him.

I've never seen anything that told me not to kill someone either. Some things people just "know."

Figures that you've never heard of the 10 commandments. Heretic!

Anyway, didn't MOST of us play football for pride? I did. I played for my school, my family, town, and my team. AD still thinks that way even though it there is risk. Very noble. The kid has character.

I say let him play. I am sure he has to have some type of insurance policy in case he doesn't make the NFL.

Does this mean that all pro prospects need to sit out the game.

It's sad that sportswriters like this are able to voice their opinions to a large audience, they are just bad for sports. It's Peterson's college career that he'll only get to experience once. It's the FIESTA BOWL, a BCS bowl, not a meaningless bowl. This guy is looking for dramatic things to talk about to get your casual sportsfan all worked up. If AD didn't want to play, he wouldn't be pressured into playing. However, he does want to play, and the coaches are standing behind him and his overall decision.

And for anyone to say Boise St. is a pushover, well maybe. They are gonna bring everything they have plus some because this is probably the biggest game in their programs history. I also looked at their depth chart, they have huge O-linemen, and are close to as big as us at other positions, not to mention an older team than us. We are stronger and faster and SHOULD win this game, I think we'll win it by 40 but I'm just saying, it's no pushover.

Not only all pro-prospects, but all seniors should go ahead and sit out the game, too. Why risk the potential injury in a exhibition game that doesn't mean anything to the rest of your life?

Get a grip. Either he's ready or he's not. Play to win, or go ahead and go pro right out of High School.

"It's bowl season, it's bowl season!

    By Pete Fiutak
    1.
It's time for the fun games. It's time to see teams you haven't gotten a chance to see all season long. It's a chance for college football again before we dive into the edge of sports abyss as we wait out January and February to get to the college basketball that matters.

Oh sure, it'll be tough for you to get all jacked up for the New Mexico Bowl with the Lobos playing San Jose State. You're going to have a hard time convincing the wife that you can't go to her office Christmas party because you have to watch Rice play Troy in something called the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. But don't let the national talking heads ruin your fun.

They'll tell you there are too many bowls. They'll mock and ridicule the bowl names (O.K., they have a point there). They'll tell you these are silly and meaningless games.

    Compared to what?

The NBA doesn't matter until April. The NHL is irrelevant. All that matters in college basketball is the tournament. The NFL, if you don't have a fantasy team or don't "invest" is good to pass the time, but you're a college football fan. These games do matter, and they're all worth enjoying."

Here's Pete's new article saying that even the little bowl games matter. A direct contridiction of his remarks last week. What an asshole.

    Does Fiutak have a brain?

    By Tear Down This Wall
Here's a chance for Pete Fiutak and The Sporting News editorial staff to show that they care about their readers and their intellect above anything else.

Tell Pete Fiutak, "Thank you, enjoy the view from your couch during bowl season, and start getting ready those job interviews with McDonald's and Jack In The Box."

How much would future burger flippers respect The Sporting News and truly believe they has their best interests at heart? Would you let your village idiot of a writer risk the company's reputation for one more article that, when all is said and done, doesn't really matter?

I understand how sports "journalists" work their private parts off while surfing for porn in between their creative writing assigments that they disguise as "journalism." I understand how desperately Fiutak wants to help out the publication he's been a writer for ever since breaking his thingy in a Jessica Simpson yahoo search back in October.

But The Sporting News isn't competing for Pulizter Prizes, or even the regional high school journalism awards banquet; in neither case would it be understandable for Fiutak to come back to write anyway. The college bowl season is nothing more than a few dozen glorified exhibition games, and certainly isn't worth jeopardizing this great future burger flipper's future.

What if he blows out an elbow on a Brittany Spears google image search? What if he breaks his wrist trying to find doctored nudes of Barbara Walters on altavista? We're talking about a top-10 future burger flipper, and possibly No. 2 behind Berry Tramel, and he's going to risk it by continuing to produce "journalism" pieces during the bowl season?! (Actually, I'd make the same case for Tramel.) Don't believe the garbage that some hamburger franchise scouts want to see Fiutak write once more. Fiutak is a multi-million burger flipper next year at this time.

Some publisher paid tens of thousands of dollars for Jayson Blair to write a book that no one read after his fraudulent "journalism" was caught by The New York Times back in 2004. Will Fiutak or the The Sporting New editors repay McDonald's or Burger King lost revenue if Fiutak gets hurt "researching" for future absurd bowl articles? Yeah, right.

It's Fiutak's place to say he wants to "write" and nothing can keep him off the adult search engines. It's up to the editors to do what's best for him the future billions and billions served at McDonald's.

Wow....somebody really needed something to write about. I don't think recruits are going to think negatively of our program for allowing AD to play in the Fiesta Bowl in his final collegiate game. I think most athletes would want to play in that game.
