Apparently B12 AD's support the rule that beginning 2020 all B12 schools must play at least one out of conference game with Notre Dame or a team from one of the other Power Conferences--SEC, Big 10, Pac-12 or ACC. Came about largely because Baylor repeatedly has soft non conference schedule. Anyway, in 2020, OU (vs. Army), Baylor (vs. La Tech), & Kansas (vs.Houston) don't make the rule. What will happen? Would those schools have to schedule another game with named conferences (or ND), or would they have to break (contract)with existing scheduled school and substitute a school (or ND) from those conferences?
Pretty sure any schedules fixed now don't have to be adjusted, but any open schedules from this point forward must include a P5. So, by that interpretation, no one would have to break a contract. It would only prohibit a team from entering a new contract if it precluded scheduling a P5.
The Wake Forest and Rutgers Athletic Departments might need to add a few phone lines to handle the extra call volume.
i thought i remember hearing something about the service academies also working for that rule. maybe i'm thinking of something else Navy certainly would have been a quality opponent this year
Best comment of Stoops' press conference: "Coach, what do you think of the XII mandating the teams all play a P5 opponent?" "It won't affect us any." So that's the sound a slap to a bear's face makes!
