Yes it was the hold they got us for. #69 is Lane Johnson. And Bob said going I nto half time that's what the refs told him. And yes, they do call those. But not as late as they did! Problem is we scored. So the ref threw it aftgerward.....looks kind of suspicious to me. But the right call. Just the timing the flag was said to be thrown.
That was crazy. Official #1: Oh ****! Bell scored! Hurry throw a flag. Official # 2: OK. I threw it. Now what? Official #1: Surely someone was holding. Pick a number. Official #2: Ok. Got it. Official #1: Thanks dumbass. That guy was away from all the action. Stoops just screamed at me. Something about that being bull****. Oh well. It's not as if we are accountable for our actions.
Totally agree we started running too much in the 2nd. Try one every 3rd or 4th snap and if we can't get 4+ yds, go back to the pass. We ran 27 plays in the 1st qtr and it was starting to show on their D. I don't know how many we ran in the 2nd, but it was much less as we got in poor down and distance trying to run. I did like the play mix on the last drive as it drained the clock and made sure ND didn't get a final chance, but didn't like the other 2nd qtr play calling. We are playing ND's type of game, hope we can change that in the next half.
Holding could be called on every play, by every team in any game but in most games this season they just haven't called it much. Maybe they do in the Big East.
