So perhaps HC Stoops had more of a hand in last week's Defensive domination than we gave him credit for. A lot of folks were willing to "forgive" Venables for several seasons of questionable defensive schemes and play calling. Alas, we're back to the rather porous OU defense. Fortunately, I never jumped off the "Fire Venables" bandwagon last week. So, I'll say it again - we either keep our mediocrity on defense, or we make a big coaching change to bring the D up to the next level. OU may get lit up by the dual-threat Tebow if we can't get our D back to last week's level. As long as we have BV, though, I'm not sure such good games will be anything other than "flukes".
Tech is a bit "easier" to defend, you know what they are going to come at you with and that does not include a mobile QB. A mobile QB tends to give EVERY defense fits. With a non-mobile QB you can focus on responsibilities and not worry about a guy running on you.

Those who jumped OFF the "Fire BV" bandwagon last week deserve to sit in the corner for 20 minutes. I think Bob had a big hand in the OU-TTU defense scheme. Now, without 2 weeks to prepare, we're back to the usual terrible pass defense. Like a freakin' sieve. Unbelievable. Thanks goodness the OU offense rocks.

On the negative side, this is playing out exactly how UT hoped it would. It looks like we'll win, but very unimpressively. That's exactly the only way that UT will stay ahead of OU in the BCS standings.
