I couldn't disagree more. I see 2 of 'em back there. Murray and Brown are great runners. In these vanilla schemes so far this year they haven't had many big breakaways. That'll change if teams don't want to see the Bradford-Manny hookup for 25+ yards every drive.

Murray has the potential to be that guy but Brown? Being a home run guy has nothing to do with just being a great runner but an explosive runner who can take it 60, 70 yards...Brown is not that kind of runner

Depends on the bike.

They make these bike with a V-8 in them....

Those need a big tire just to keep from spinning the tire.

The others might be wide but they are rounded and designed to keep just the right amount of tire on the road.

If you look at some of these Road Race Bikes on the Pro Circuits...They are using them there as well.

I think they look like crap but then I am not a cruiser/custom fan.

You can get plenty of traction with a smaller width tire with a different compound. My Triumph has a 180/55 and it gets fine traction but I only get about 5,000 miles out of a rear (about 10K for the front) tire. That is with a Sport/Touring compound which is in between the harder tires that most cruisers and touring bikes have and harder than the pure sport tires which get about half the mileage. Even an S/T tire like a Michelin Pilot Road 2 (http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front/affich.jsp?codeRubrique=2092004104045&codePage=2092004104045_13032007105938&lang=EN) (a dual compound tire, harder in the middle, softer on the sides) will transform cruiser handling if you can find them in a size to fit a cruiser.
