i had hopes the big 12 Ch game in a dome in SAntonio would prep us for the Nat Ch game in NO against a home team(LSU). I had hopes, anyways. This is going to be the longest 4 hours of my life
This goes to my theory that we are made up of a bunch of blue chip recruits who have never had to face any adversity their entire playing careers cause the have always gotten by on talent. It takes character to overcome this stuff and, despite some players(Lofton, Kelly, English, Bradford and...Murray, as displayed tonight) we don't have those kind of gritty players. That was the beauty of the 2000 team. They had experienced the worst of times and were able to appreciate the good times.

I think that is definately something we have been missing since. that swagger and confidence. It is almost like we just go into each game expecting to rely on our talent alone without the swagger. i hope i'm wrong, but if we can't score from the 1 yard line, we don't deserve to be in the CCG or the MNC

It's easy for some idiot to suggest he should have been able to step right in for Bradford ensure our offense didn't miss a beat. Afterall, these are still kids we're talking about.

But it would have been nice if we had given the running game more of a chance early on to help establish a little momentum. Of course, I can understand the coaching staff trying to get Hazle into some kind of a rhythm.

This is what happens when you never play your backup QB. I'll never understand why Stoops doesn't do this, but it's a ridiculous policy. And occasionally, it hurts you. Bad.

Halzle was no doubt unprepared, but I've never thought he would actually play anyway. I figured he'd get garbage time (if Stoops ever did play a backup QB) and that Nichol would come in if Bradford got hurt. Guess not. I hope Nichol transfers after this, for his own good. Doesn't look like he'll ever play at this rate.

If Halze was a Freshman, I would give him a break but he came from a junior college and has been in the system. He is just not up to playing at this level for a whole game IMHO.

As for the defense, how long have they been on the field? They have to be dead tired. I saw this happen with Oregon when their starting quarterback went out -- the whole team had the air go out.

If Bradford would have played, our defense would have had some rest and he would have better managed the game. Not saying we would have won but we would have looked a lot better.

I said it earlier in the week, and I stand by it today. Why did the Cluckers lose to an Arizona team with a losing record? Because they are a ONE MAN TEAM! They have nothing else. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Once Dixon went down I knew they were toast. I saw nothing that showed that they could win without him. Do you think that if Sammy went down our mighty Sooners would fold like a cheap lawn chair like the Cluckers did? NO FRICKIN' WAY! With all of our weapons on offense I am VERY confident that Halze or Kid Nichol could have come in and got the job done against that sorry Arizona defense. Yes, brothers Stoops defense is pathetic. Hell, we could have hiked the ball the rest of the night to Demarco and won easily. Yeah, I have no doubt if Dixon had not got hurt the Cluckers would have won; easily too! But a REAL championship caliber football team would have won that game last night WITHOUT their starting quarterback.
