    Re: The console TV

I was my Dad's remote for our console TV for years. Our first remote was attached with a cord to our VCR.

We had the console TV and the console stereo/record player.

We had console TV. Then it died, so we put the new TV on top of the console TV.

That's typical of many hillbilly households.

Oh my granny used to unplug her console TV every night just in case the lightening struck the house and blew out the tubes.

I'm not surprised. My mom called me the other day and was excited to tell me they were down to two inoperable vehicles sitting the yard. The rest were now in sheds. I was pretty impressed by this.

I mean the tv thats made to look like a furniture piece is a brilliant idea. I may run to the lumber yard and create a make shift console and just slide my current tv into it.

I hope he didn't throw you at the TV during the 78 orange bowl against Arkansas.

My mom does all kinds of stuff like that too. If lightning hits my house, I'm not too concerned about the TV.

We had an RCA with a sweet little drawer that flipped out with all the controls that weren't channel or volume. You pushed down on this long flat metal bar thingy to turn it on.

Curtis Mathes had a store on I-240 in the early 80s. My parents bought our first VCR there for like $1,000 when they first came out.

It was the only place on our side of town to rent videos. After a while, I heard that store got busted for letting kids rent pron.

I have a picture of me with our console TV. Let me find it.
