<insert shampoo joke here>
I guess I truly live under a rock cause I've never heard of him.
RIP though.
Multiple times World Champion All Around Cowboy and perennial World Champion Bull Rider. From Henryetta. Opened a rodeo cowboy school there many years ago. He was, unquestionably, one of the best ever to cowboy up.

He was one TOUGH HOMBRE....Hate to see him go.
Happy Trails compadre.
He was the first real cowboy I ever heard of. I remember being about 4 and seeing him on TV. I would sit on the are of big ol' chair and pretend I was riding a bronc.
Make a place around the campfire at the Big Roundup in the Sky.
You tell me it's the institution. Well, you know, you'd better free your mind instead.
(Shoo-bee doo-wah)
if you're in your late 30's and up, you should also remember Jim from the Miller Lite commercials from the 70's; those commercials were pretty damn good
First man to ever ride Tornado. Met him and we drank a cold one together at his friend Marvin White's bar (Marvin's Place) in Henryetta last year.
Makin' another 8 second ride I guess. Spur-em Jim!
If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties - someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad; if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." - John F. He was a real cowboy...I hate that he died...
That would be Freckles Brown - NFR in OKC. I was there selling beer. Unfortunately I was under the stand restocking my wares and missed it.Originally Posted by Zbird

This should've been in the RIP thread.
Oh, wait...
You sir are absolutely correct. My memory fails me. Shoulders OWNED Tornado. Wikipedia says PRCA World Championships include five "World All-Around Rodeo Champion Cowboy" awards (1949, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959),seven Bull Rider awards (1951, 1954-1959), and four Bareback Rider awards (1950, 1956, 1957, 1958). He was the first competitor to win three events at the world championships (Bareback, Bull Riding and All Around), earning him a $5,000 payday. His lifetime rodeo earnings exceeded $400,000. He owned the bull Tornado which had thrown over 200 riders over a 14 year span before Freckles Brown successfully rode him in the 1967 Finals.Originally Posted by AlbqSooner
