Angry What the heck is the deal with softball?

The softball tournament looks like the biggest crap i have seen in a while. First of all, you have Alabama and Tennessee that have been ranked 1-2/2-1 in the last couple of weeks and they are given #5 and #11 seeds overall? And then they award home sites to A&M's flute playin asses and Callahans whores. The Big 12 champ however is granted the lovely oppurtunity to go plat in Amherst, Mass. What the hell?! And if we win that regional we will be paired with either Missouri/DePaul(I think Missouri will come out of that regional) and we have played both of those teams atleast twice already this year. This is talking about freakin Arizona as the overall #1??? We run ruled them atleast once and beat them handily the other time. Talk about come crap.

    Selections Announced

    May 13, 2007

INDIANAPOLISThe defending champion University of Arizona was named the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship today when the NCAA Division I Softball Committee announced the 64-team field. The Wildcats, champions of the Pacific-10 Conference, are 39-12-1 and will open play against the automatic qualifier from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (winner of North Carolina A&T University vs. Howard University), May 18, in front of a home crowd in Tucson.

Twenty-nine conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 35 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket. The top 16 teams were seeded nationally and will play at campus sites this weekend.

Team pairings were determined by geographical proximity, with the exception that teams from the same conference were not paired during regional competition, when possible.

The Pac-10 led all conferences with eight teams in the championship, while the Southeastern Conference placed seven, the Big 12 Conference has six, and the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big West Conference each had five. California State University, Fresno, remains the only team to be selected to all 26 championships. Five teams are making their initial appearances in the tournament: Sam Houston State University, Eastern Michigan University, Stetson University, Winthrop University, and Furman University. Only eight schools have been crowned champion, all of which are in this year’s bracket.

I don't get it either. I would be interested in hearing what Gasso has to say. Are they trying to save the PAC 10?

So how come OU doesn't get to host a regional, but ATM does? Number 3 overall seed and sent to Massachusetts? Call me totally confused on this and just adds more ammo to the "NCAA hates OU" line of thought

Did you see how they run the Women's NCAA Basketball tourney? I think the "Good ol' Gal" system is way more crooked than any "Good ol' boy" system. Beoches are ruthless to each other.

it may have more to do with OKC hosting the big 12 tourney, and Softball World Series

Shouldn't matter. The top 5 seeds should stay home IMO.

    i agree....

however, the regional (other than geography) that they were sent to, it appears that the NCAA 'protected' the 3 seed pretty well.

They protected the PAC-10. Unless I missed something on the bracket, no PAC-10 teams could meet up in the 2nd round.

The good news is that we would certainly get to host the "Super Regional" after we get passed Mass.

You can never tell about the level of competition they've faced since the east is pretty weak as far as women's softball is concerned but UMass is undefeated at home and has a 26 game winning streak.

I dont know that any of those teams that contributed to their 26 game winning streak would win 4 games in the Big 12. They would prolly win their 2 against osu and split with A&M and Texas but other than that, who would they beat?
