I liked Spurrier until now.
I'm guessing he's losing recruits over this...

I doubt it... It may turn out to be a positive in the eyes of a black recruit (or a white one for that matter)...

Why do people hold onto a symbol of a failed idea so strongly? You lost, get over it.
I need Homey to verify the actual length of the Confed. What was it? 4 years? Let it fugging go, losers.
SoonerinabileneOh sweet jesus. Its like watching the special olympics in high definition on here now.
Spurrier had a very good, if not great recruiting class this season. Keep the conf. flag. He doesn't need to do any better in recruiting, already.
Put a lid on it! Kiss it goodbye. We gave it away, and apparently thought it made sense to do so.
maybe it's more than just a recruiting issue with him.Originally Posted by RUSH LIMBAUGH is my clone!
Am I wrong or was the flag of the confederate states the flag of the people that wanted states rights (as in the BILL OF RIGHTS) and not to be infringed upon by the federal government? If so whats so wrong with that?
Just because alot of people wrongly tie it to slavery and only slavery seems to show a bit of ignorance.

And the fact that SC only started it flying over the statehouse in the 1960's have a lot to do with it. It's not that time honored of a tradition.Originally Posted by 85Sooner

It's not the federal government telling the state of South Carolina to take down the flag. It's other people. People have a right to state what they believe, just like organizations have a right to make statements. It's not the federal government infringing on anything.Originally Posted by 85Sooner

I was joking, of course. I don't have a clue, but I would bet he doesn't want the presence of the conf. flag to be any kind of an issue.Originally Posted by sanantoniosooner

Each of the 6 articles mentions (if not focuses on) slavery. It doesn't seem like too big a jump to put slavery near the top of the list of confederate causes. The Crittenden Compromise was one of several last-ditch efforts to resolve the secession crisis of 1860-61 by political negotiation. Authored by Kentucky Senator John Crittenden (whose two sons would become generals on opposite sides of the Civil War) it was an attempt to resolve the crisis by addressing the concerns that led the states of the Lower South to contemplate secession. As such, it gives a window into what the politicians of the day thought the cause of the crisis to be.
The Compromise, as offered on December 18, 1860, consisted of a preamble, six (proposed) constitutional amendments, and four (proposed) Congressional resolutions.

I think it is funny because there are like 8 different confederate flags... They could do it more tastefully like Georgia did.
