That is what I was thinking, but if you slide the battery off of this phone there is no card on the handset - thus my reasoning behind thinking the card could be in the battery pack. I'm not really sure on that though. Either way, if/when I get this phone (bid is still at $5 - and it comes with a leather case that I'll never use) I can have everything transferred from my old phone if I need to.Originally Posted by soonerboomer93
Ugh, here is one answer I found while trying to search about this:
I would think Verizon would be able to hook the phone up to one of their computers and do this for me though...Another downside of this phone is that, being a CDMA phone - your data is stored locally to the phone and not on a sim card. So if you switch phones for any reason - you can't take it with you (unless you offloaded your addressbook and data to your PC with a data cable *SEE "EXTRAS" BELOW*).
Ok, well, I called a local Verizon store and they informed me that Verizon does not even use sim cards, and that everything is stored on the motherboard on the cell phone. If/when I get this new phone, I can go online and activate it to have my number switched over to the new phone, but I will have to take it to a store to have everything switched over...
so uh, what is your max bid? I really don't want the phone but I could use the leather case if worse came to worse...

My max bid right now is $10, but it looks as though I am going to get it for $5. The woman at Verizon said I can go to their website to have the phone activated and have my number switched to the new phone. Only problem with that is that it has been a year since I logged on to that site, so I can't remember my password. Guess what happens when you try to reset your password on Verizon's site - it sends you a TEXT MESSAGE with your temporary password...Now how in the **** am I supposed to get my temporary password when the whole reason I am getting a new phone is that my current phone's main screen went completely black...
you might want to recheck that.I am going to get it for $5.

Then I'll have two phones that I can give away when people tell me that their phone is broke.. It's just $15 we're talking about here.
There's still 2 hours left and I have received a PM asking for the link so they can bid too. I'm not going to do that but I reserve the right to change my mind, I haven't checked my spek in a while...
