SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma and Central Oklahoma meet for the first time ever tonight in Edmond…Tonight’s game will be the first of two games between the teams this weekend…Tomorrow night’s game with Central Oklahoma will be at the Blazers Ice Centre…Oklahoma is ranked 2nd in the most recent ACHA D1 Coaches Ranking released last week…Central Oklahoma is unranked in ACHA D1.
OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners forward Adrian Borchgrevink continues to lead the Sooners in goals with 18 and total points with 30…OU forward Doug Gebbie is second on the team in goals with 12…Forward Owen Brewer (7-19-26) and Gebbie (12-13-25) are respectively second and third on the team in terms of points…Oklahoma goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a record of 10-0-0 with a 1.42 GAA and a .948 save percentage…Dating back to March 3rd of this year, the Sooners have now won their last 20 games…When the Sooners score first in a game, it’s a good sign as OU has an all-time record of 69-8-2…The Oklahoma power play this season has scored 56 goals in 206 chances for a 27.19% success rate…The Sooners penalty kill is equally as impressive, allowing only 11 goals in 169 opportunities for a 93.49% kill rate…Oklahoma is 38-12-3 all-time in games played on Fridays and 7-6-2 in Friday games played on the road.
CENTRAL OKLAHOMA NOTES: Central Oklahoma last played during Thanksgiving week when they traveled to Minot, North Dakota for a three-game series against Minot State…The Bronchos lost all three games to Minot State with the scores being 5-4 (SO), 5-3 and 5-4…Central Oklahoma is currently 2-6-0-2 against ACHA D1 teams…The Bronchos are led in scoring by defenseman Joel Hornung who has four goals and thirteen assists for a total of 17 points…Hornung is followed by Brian Thompson (6-6-12), Rob Deubel (6-6-12), Brent Block (5-7-12) and Shawn Steggles (5-7-12)…Goaltender Rob Mattison (4.16 GAA) is Central Oklahoma’s top netminder.
