Computer hardware people
My video card is going out and I need another one. Any suggestions? I'd like to stay in the $75 or less range, definitely less than $100. My current card is a NVidia Ti-4200+ that is at least 4 years old, so I'm not too concerned about performance. It's not like I play games on my computer. I basically want something I can eventually hook dual LCD monitors to and possibly hook my TV to it through svideo.
I'm so far out of the loop on hardware now, I don't even know how to start looking. All the cheaper new cards seem to be PCI Express, and I don't have that on my motherboard and I don't have the money to upgrade my motherboard and processor and video card.

I have an ATI Radeon 9600, 256MB onboard video memory

Even supports dual monitors, if you're into that sort of thing. Costs $55.

Re: Computer hardware people
Do you know if it's better than an X600? That's what mine is here at work and I hate it. For some reason it get's confused on which monitor is 1 and 2 and also thinks my monitor is upside down for some reason.
Of course, it will be a while before I can get a couple of monitors, so maybe it won't matter.

Re: Computer hardware people
I've had a 9600 for a while now, (are they really just $55 now?) I've never had much of a problem with it. Of course I only have one monitor, so that might not be helping you very much.

I think I'm going to go with the 9600. I think I'll like it good enough. It's probably better than what I have now (before it broke). And it's cheap enough, I might just throw in a much needed DVD burner for kicks.

Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your video card. Where can you go from there? Where?

No, but it doesn't seem to be able to burn 16x media and they haven't updated the firmware in 2 years. What sucks is that it's an NEC, which was at the time one of the top burners. I assumed I'd get more than 2 years out of it.
