    ESPN Idiots on the Heisman

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/heisman06/index

I'm not really sure what these people are on. Why is Troy Smith the favorite? What has he done to prove he is the greatest? Look at his stats!

He hasn't passed for over 300 yards this year. His last 3 games he passed for a total of 203, 115, and 186. You are telling me those are Heisman passing numbers? That is a joke!

Can someone please clear this up for me? I'm really confused...

Recently they have done nothing but hype the best player on the best team for the heisman, which is not always the way it should be.

What $%&! me off is Adrian was only 7 points behind the leader last week and now he's alot further behind simply because OU had a bye week. Hardly fair.

tOSU is going to have to lose to Michigan and OU beat Texas and win out before Adrian can get it IMO.

This is no longer an individual trophy. It has sadly became a team trophy

What was it when OU had 2 of the top 5?

why do you all let this bother you?
Its our first week of conference play....

There was damn sure nobody hyping Jason White until he lit up Texass in our
    FIRST conference game that year.
Let Adrian gain his ground during conference play... its when voters make up there minds anyways

They actually were two of the best players in the game at that time. It will be interesting to compare Troy Smith’s stats w/ Jason White’s and Matt Leinart’s…I’m betting Troy wouldn’t even be close. Anyway, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit is clearly a OSU homer.

Stats are only one component of whether a player is worthy.

It's just funny that our players EARNED the right to be a candidate and other players are just the result of hype. Like OU wasn't hyped during those season.

Just goes to show you that Tuberville said it right when he stated that ESPN has way to much power over the sport.

What really sucks is that I agree with a super tool like tuberville.

Depends on what your criteria is I guess. White and Peterson both had giant gaudy numbers to go along with their candidacy. To this point, Smith only has the best team aspect.

I've gotten to the point where I watch only the games; halftime and post-game shows, Sportscenter, all gone. They may not have been unbiased before, but overt shilling for one team/player has gotten out of control.

Not sure what you're getting at...I sure don't think Leinart, Bush, and Young, were just the result of hype. Right now, Troy Smith & Teddy Ginn are 100% hype...it's a long year, I'd not too worried about it right now, time will tell.

My criteria isn't just about the numbers, or QBs from Tech should win it every year

At this point of the season I don't have a problem with Troy Smith being the leading candidate. He has done what was needed to win. He has made some big plays at key moments and shown great leadership for his team. As the season wears on things will shake up.

I don't have a problem with him either, I was just trying to answer your question.

I'm not worried about it at this point. AD had a great game against UO, and everyone saw it. He's been solid in every game, even though defenses are stacking the box against him.

If he lights up a tough opponent - like on Saturday in Dallas - he'll go back to the top.

That's pretty much how I've seen it the last several weeks.

Iowa was grossly overrated, Michigan will be the last team worth anything that tOSU plays. So far they've beaten UT, we (officially) lost the UO game, so that automatically makes Smith better. We have to beat UT also and what might be a ranked MU team and win a Big 12 game to give AD bigger wins.
