MOORE -- An Oklahoma City man who was trying to remove a jammed bowling pin died after becoming trapped in the machine, police said.
Toby Lee Williams, 20, was crushed to death Wednesday night while trying to repair a machine at AMF Moore Lanes.
A manager heard Williams scream and immediately cut the machine's power, Sgt. Todd Strickland said.
Emergency responders had to pry open the machine manually to free Williams, Strickland said. Williams was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at Norman Regional Hospital.
Williams had worked at the bowling alley for two years, Strickland said.
State Medical Examiner Kevin Rowland said Williams died of traumatic asphyxia, which occurred when his breathing and blood flow were constricted as the machine compressed his neck and chest.
Calls to AMF's corporate offices were not answered.
