    vbookie FAQ

Outcome Odds Total Bets Total Staked Stake

    toledo 1/1 F (1.00) 0 0
    IOWA STATE -7.5 1/1 F (1.00) 15 2235
    south carolina -6.5 1/1 F (1.00) 6 395
    MISS STATE 1/1 F (1.00) 1 10
    utep 1/1 F (1.00) 4 260
    SAN DIEGO STATE -1.5 1/1 F (1.00) 3 275

i see a lot of teams, what on earth is the format?

the first team is the visitor, the second bolded team is home

    Northwestern -4.5
    MIAMI (OH)

the + or - number indicates the spread. if it is negative, you have to win by more than the number of points (in order for NW to win the bet, they have to win by 5 points), if they don't the other team wins. this is also known as "giving points".

    why are their odds?

some events will be harder to pick, so there will be greater odds - examples include "will peterson rush for over 300 yards" or "will beano ban a horn fan this week".

ask questions and i'll answer them (no, i don't know why norm sleeps with a teddy bear).

    Re: vbookie FAQ

Where do you pull your lines from and if there was a big shift somewhere, would you consider moving the line?

    Re: vbookie FAQ

i pull them from foxsports when i make the post (normally 3 days before the game). at that point the spread is locked, so i don't account for shifts. thus most of the big money waits until the last possible minute to bet.

    Re: vbookie FAQ

Can we request that certain games be on the betting schedule (such as Nevada-Fresno State, which would have been some easy vMoney for me)?

If we bet on the Friday game(s), assuming there is such, will we have a chance to play those winnings on Saturday?

    Re: vbookie FAQ

Obviously I haven't messed with jkm's system much, although I added a few over/under bets. So for those, you're betting on whether the total points scored by BOTH teams in a game will add up to more or less than the number I put up.

    Re: vbookie FAQ

Oh, and just so's everyone knows: if a bet turns out to be a push - for example, the point spread is Oklahoma (-50) and we win by EXACTLY 50 - I'll declare everyone that bet on either side of that game a winner.

For the record. Every time a new vBookie event is posted, anyone with a balance of 0 gets reset to 200 vCash.

    Re: vbookie FAQ

so that means if you're under 200, you ought to bet it all so it'll be reset to higher, right?

If I bet v100 and "the field" is a winner, what would I make?

    Re: vbookie FAQ

Yes. The 100 that you staked would be returned to you and you would receive your 17 in winnings.

Think of it as a -600 money line.
