    Ozone Alert

Hey! There's an Ozone Alert today. All you people topping off your gas at QuikTrip.....YOU SUCK! All you people out driving....YOU SUCK!! Just call in sick to work for God's sake! Thanks for making us exceed the threshold again for the second day in a row. Another couple more and we will be back on the Dirty Air List again. That means another $0.03 added to the price of gas you inconsiderate a-holes!

NOW GO AWAY OR I SHALL TAUNT YOU A SECOND TIME!

So, were you walking past the QuickTrip or just hypothesizing?

I've been driving in Austin this week. Just to f*ck it up for the Texans. Tomorrow I've got to burn up the rest of the tank of gas I pre-paid in the rental.

If I live in Utah, can I top off the gas still?

Oh no, I was driving past it. But I fully admit that I am a dirty liberal hypocrite. I live south of Tulsa. The Glenpool monitor is the only one that didn't exceed. I send all of my pollution to North Tulsa or BA.

You do realize there is a difference in an alert and a warning, right?

    Re: Ozone Alert

In Tulsa, they just issue "Ozone Alerts." Not "Ozone Warnings." I think in OKC it's called a "Clean Air Alert" or "Clean Air Advisory" or something like that.

    Re: Ozone Alert

Down here, the state board of natural natural resources has regional maps with ozone measuring stations. They update the readings hourly.
They will issue the forecast the day before, letting you know that your area may exceed the acceptable level. The catch in the metroplex is that some areas will never reach the limit.
It's similar to tornado watch and warning. People down here don't get it.
I keep the map up at school and our kids can go out if the ozone is okay and the temperature ever gets below 95 - you know, 6 AM. <sigh>

Looks like we're good so far today, but we still have the afternoon rush hour and peak heating to get through. Probably be close to another exceedance. It will depend on the timing of that cold front that's going to come through.

It's too bad all those hills and trees contribute to air stagnation.
