The Oklahoma softball team announced the signing of Lauren Eckermann to a National Letter of Intent Friday morning. The right-handed sophomore arrives from Temple Junior College and will transfer from the junior college ranks to OU in the fall of 2006 where she will have two years of eligibility.
The two-time second team All-American was dominant during her two-year stint at the junior college level. This season Eckermann went a perfect 31-0 in the circle, tallying a NJCAA-best 0.17 ERA while allowing just five earned runs on 72 hits in 205 innings in the regular season. She also registered 310 strikeouts to just 29 walks.
“Lauren arrives at a time when we are trying to solidify our pitching staff,” head coach Patty Gasso said. “We believe that she will make a huge impact on our staff next year. Her numbers were extremely impressive at the juco level and we are excited for what she will bring to this program, which has a history of successful pitching.”
