SOONERS WEEKLY
For the Week of February 27, 2006

ON TO NATIONALS!
No. 14 OKLAHOMA SWEEPS ST. CLOUD STATE

LAST WEEK’S GAMES - The No. 14-ranked University of Oklahoma® hockey club (19-11-2) closed out the 2005-2006 regular season with a pair of wins over ACHA D2 opponent St. Cloud State University (17-14-2) this past weekend. On Friday night, eight different Sooners scored goals as OU romped to a 9-2 win over the Huskies. The next night, senior Kelly Forbes scored two goals and senior Bryan Jewell added one of his own to lead OU to a 5-1 victory.

THIS WEEK’S HOCKEY GAMES – The Sooners travel to the ACHA Division 1 National Championship Tournament, hosted by West Chester University, in suburban Philadelphia to face the Iowa State University Cyclones (31-5-7) this Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. EST. The Sooners are familiar with Iowa State as they have played the Cyclones in a total of six games over the course of three years, going 0-4-2 in those games, including a 2-2 tie and a 3-2 loss to ISU earlier this season. The Sooners are guaranteed at least two games (Thursday & Friday) at the tournament. If OU were to win both of those early games, the Sooners would then be guaranteed another two games (Saturday & Sunday). After the ISU game, OU Hockey opponents and game times are obviously dependent upon how well the Sooners perform at the tournament. For game brackets and other information regarding the ACHA Division 1 National Championship Tournament, please visit the ACHA’s website at www.achahockey.org.

SOONERS GAMES AT NATIONALS ON THE AIR – The OU Hockey games at the National Championship Tournament will be broadcast this week on The Wire, the University of Oklahoma’s student radio station. Caleb Fox (play-by-play) and Keaton Fuchs (color) are traveling with the team to West Chester to bring you all excitement of Sooners Hockey at Nationals! Fans can listen to the OU Hockey internet broadcast by going to http://wire.ou.edu and clicking the appropriate LISTEN NOW link prior to game time.
AND THE WINNER IS… – Last Saturday night saw OU Hockey say thanks to three seniors playing their last games in front of the home crowd: Kelly Forbes, Bryan Jewell and Shawn Webber. Each player was presented with their home white game sweater and a plaque commemorating their tenure with Sooners Hockey. After the ceremony honoring the three seniors, OU Hockey recognized forward Ross Morgan and defenseman Trevor Hallberg by giving each player an award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the classroom. Finally, the Sooners Hockey program recognized Dakota Stowe and Ann Robinson as the OU Hockey Fans of the Year for 2005-2006.

SOONERS & CANADIAN AIR FORCE TO FIGHT CANCER – On Saturday, March 25th, the Sooners will play a charity game against the Canadian Air Force hockey team stationed at Tinker Air Force Base with all proceeds from the game to benefit the American Cancer Society. The game will be at 3:30 P.M. at the Blazers Ice Centre and admission will be $5 per person. For an additional $5, fans will be permitted on the ice after the game to have their pictures taken with their favorite players from both teams.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE – The Sooners practice this week at the Blazers Ice Centre on Monday from 4:30-6:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 8:45-10:30 P.M. and at Ice Line in West Chester, PA on Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 P.M.
