    Beal inks with OU

Jeremy Beal signed his national letter of intent to play at the University of Oklahoma just moments ago, despite last-minute efforts by Mack Brown and Texas to sway him south.

The 6-foot-2, 243-pound defensive end from Carrollton Creekview High School, who grew up a Longhorn fan, committed his talents to the Sooners just about a month ago.

Beal went so far as to give the upside-down hook 'em Horns sign after officially becoming a Sooner this morning at his signing.

So the kid grows up a longhorn fan, watches them win a NC a month ago, then signs w/ Oklahoma....those whos panties were in a bunch over the "Texas NC-Apocolypse for OU" theory should apologize for annoying the hell out of the rest of us...How many Texas kids have we signed in this class anyway?

    Re: Beal inks with OU

Texas actually told Beal last summer — in not so many words — that he was not good enough to play there. That opened the door for Oklahoma, which liked what it saw in the young defensive end. The Sooners offered and were right on the money with their evaluation, as evidenced by the big senior season the kid had.

Once he committed to OU and was well on his way to becoming a Sooner, Texas jumped in with a last-minute offer. If Brown and his boys had not been so blunt about how they viewed Beal's abilities he may very well have shifted gears and headed to Austin.

But when it came down to it, Beal felt the Sooners wanted him from the start and he is a young man of his word.

Reminds me of the D. Strait deal several years ago. We know how that worked out.

I'm looking forward to seeing Beal blindside Snead (or whatever other whorn is taking snaps) in about 3 years, turning to Mackie Brown, giving him the upside-down whorn sign with one hand, flipping him off with the other, and shouting "STOP CLAIMING TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL LIKE YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT"
