Why does it cost so much to have high speed internet service?
Do ISPs pay someone for internet access?
Is the cost you pay meerly for the access and support of the ISP?
Just wondering.

because people will gladly pay it.
it's just a guess........
because "the man" hates you.
he should be damned.
damn the man
In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
Supply and demand.
More hardware/cost/technical issues than dialup.
greedy SOBs.

I'm not happy until you're not happy.
Because the lust for porn can never be satisfied on a dial-up.
Regardless of what you say about Teabeau, he's still incredibly goofy.
My DSL service is coming up for renewal and they want 5 bucks more every year.
I figured it was greed.
"so much"?
it's cheaper than my cell phone, or landline at this point, and i use it a lot more than i use either of those things
$34.95 per month seems steep to me.
I just think the maturity slope of the product should have the price dropping and the market becoming more competitive.
It still seems that the only way to judge who's ISP product is the best is to try it for yourself.
Start-up ISPs seem risky and the ones that seem to have a lock on the market abuse their customers IMO.
its really cheap if you have a good wi-fi antenna.
Gotcha. lol.Originally Posted by mrowl

well, it used to be lots more than that for ISDN at home, and that is 128k maxOriginally Posted by StoopTroup
the big dialup services are still like $25+
i will say that they could stabilize the service a bit, i think it took off more than they thought it would, at least on the cable side
i haven't dealt with DSL really, but those seem to be the only real choices unless you are in some rural spot and can't get them
Mine is only $40.

i wish i made bruce-type bucks.........
My innerweb is with my cable company....that bill is $133/month. I'm sure I could get by cheaper with satellite and DSL but what a giant pain in the *** it is to chage, especially to change ISP's.Originally Posted by critical_phil

i'm not even sure there are $43,000 Subarus
Please tell me that the $133 includes television service. Otherwise that's the worst price evar.Originally Posted by Mjcpr
I pay $55/month for Comcast cable internet for 4Mb down. I wish they had some cheaper tiers because I don't need that much bandwidth. I'd do fine at 2Mb. However, I also use Vonage for my home phone service which is cheap - $25/month. The problem is I'm now pretty much locked into what I have. If I decided to save money and go back to dialup, I'd have to have my landline turned back on which I don't really want to do. I figure I'm still ahead the way it is.
my neighborhood association doesn't allow satellite dishes...uggh.
and i would i would never turn in my hetero-card, even for a $43K subaru.
