Purchase, refurbish, up date, repair, remodel, rename and do what it takes to get the Tulsa Landmark Hotel as a five star hotel and community activity center. An estimated $5 million is being held in reserve to bring the grand Lady into the 21st. Century.
Right now we have picked a new name " Tulsa Castellum " For those sooner's who never studied Latin it means Castle.

I hope they aren't saying that $5m will be enough to redo that place. It is a pit.

My father knew the guy that was in charge of "watching over it" a few years back. We actually set up a pretty nice haunted house outside of it, prolly in 1999 or so. Anywho, the guy that was watching over it took us up in it one night. Pretty cool being in a place like that, at night, nothing but a couple little flashlights. I imagine it was a pretty neat place before it got run down.

When I was a youngster we used to stay there when we went to Tulsa for swim meets. When my wife and I drive by it now on the way to the in-laws, I say "Hey honey, I came a lot at the Camelot."

That was the place to stay in the 80's for baseball tournaments. At night you could walk to the liquor store and get some wino to buy you a fifth, then pick up a 12 piece bucket at Church's next door to the Camelot. Seems we never won a tourney in Tulsa for some reason.

What is interesting is that in the plan to widen I-44, the city has decided its a much better idea to tear down existing businesses and homes to make room for the expansion, while leaving the good ole Camelot hotel alone.

But hey, we all know Tulsa is just awash in jobs and economic activity these days. As long as we keep an abandoned hotel going!

I live less than a mile from the Cramalot Inn. They'd have an easier time blowing it up than refurbishing it.
