    Mookie and "Horns"

Maybe this has been discussed before, but does anyone think it's ironic that in the "Sooners in the NBA" display at the LNC it shows a picture of Mookie flashing the "Hook-em" sign?

Obviously he's calling a play (it's a picture of him with the Hawks I think?) and has two fingers up to call the play, but I thought it was interesting that those damn horns have even infiltrated the "Sooners in the NBA" display, even accidentally.

First, you realize that the hoo'em sign has been around a loong time before ut came about right? It's almost the most natural hand sign you can do, right? Okay and in Basketball, who cares about ut. I mean they have one Great season and a couple of average ones and we should care?

Didn't realize that that Sweet 16 appearances were average. They're not exactly easy in the NCAA Tournament. Just ask your team last year.

I'm certainly aware the sign is used for many more things than just UT. I just thought it was "funny" that no one in the OU Athletic department didn't think twice (or maybe they did) before posting a life size cut out of an OU player making a sign that could be misconstrued for the main gesture of our main rival. Now if Mookie would have had the foresight to call the play with his fingers down...

Maybe the Athletic department should consult some of the expert farkers on the site and revise the picture?

I think it ironic that most of the world believes the hookum-horns sign to be the sign of the devil, or at least the sign of the 'evil eye'.

I think it is doubly ironic that a widely practiced way to protect yourself from that gesture or curse, is to make the same sign, with the fingers pointed downward.
