Did anyone see the roughing call on Rufus on the same drive? They didn't replay on TV, but I heard that was a shady call as well...and if remember weren't they 3rd and long on that play?
Well, I don't usually blame referees for a loss, but this one was different. About the only thing positive about it, if you want it call it that, is that we weren't playing a national championship game. Think how it must have felt for the Miami Hurricanes, thinking they had won the national title and then getting whistled for a phantom pass-interference penalty 15 seconds after the play was over. Not that I ever loved Miami or anything (too bad about last night's loss to Georgia Tech), but I just hate it when zebras decide the fate of ballgames. But that's sports. It wasn't the first injustice ever done (it is now 5th down and 1 for Colorado), and it won't be the last.
you can't make contact with the helmet of a quarterback after they've thrown the ball...it's an automatic 15 and Rufus already owned up to it being a mistake on his part.Originally Posted by Talus

"You learn so much from a loss like this," Ash said. "You learn what it takes to play at the level Oklahoma plays."
That's conclusive, he was short of the goal line until he bounced...Originally Posted by Partial Qualifier
Alrighty, thanks for all the pictures and the putfile movie. Oh, and thanks for the sticky! Made it a lot easier to find after the trip back up to Norman. (I was in Dallas visiting family)
Wonder what this idiot ump was looking at.
I may be wrong, but I think it's the linesman's call.Originally Posted by SkipTracer

Those officials didn't seem to have a clue there at the end. There is also that bogus TD call when the Raider not only did not have control of the ball, he flat never caught it at all. Hell the running back that scored that bogus winning TD just reached the ball out as an exercise in futility, he knew he was down, and wasn't even expecting to get that TD. It seemed to me that when they showed him during that review he started acting like he just got away with something. And by the way, does anyone know who the Texas Tech booster was that was reviewing those plays? We got robbed, screwed, and owned by that **** poor crew of officials! Hope the Tech boosters got the cash to them this morning, they sure earned that payoff!

Hey Norm, I think the official "sticks" are always on the sideline opposite the pressbox.
Here's the rule:
http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/20...ball_rules.pdfb. When any part of the runner’s body, except his hand or foot, touches the
ground or when the runner is tackled or otherwise falls and loses possession
of the ball as he contacts the ground with any part of his body,
except his hand or foot. (Exception: The ball remains alive when an
offensive player has simulated a kick or is in position to kick the ball
held for a place kick by a teammate.

Was quite amazing on Channel 8 sports last night in Dallas - Dale Hansen - who never gives Oklahoma much credit - ripped Instant Replay pretty hard. He used those 3 calls in the last minute or so as prime example as to how it does no good. Sounded as though he was trying to give us a little credit without having to say it.
Sad to see officials affect the outcome of a game such as this one - but at least it was this year and not a championship game as someone else mentioned. Texas should be watching next year - it should be a clean sweep of all Texas teams again the next few years. They should enjoy their one year.
Here's another shot.
Well hes not actually down there...so........?
