Anybody else into audiobooks?

I've become addicted to them. I think they're the ultimate in media - the length of a book (20-30 hours of listening, typically) that doesn't require your full attention to enjoy. I listen to them during my commute, while exercising and while doing most household chores.

The can be expensive, but I by mine used or download from www.audible.com (2 free per month for 20 bucks). I only buy on CD and rip 'em to MP3's to listen.

I've put away 21 in the past year alone...that more than doubles my reading output during that time period.

Highly recommended, especially the extremely well-done Harry Potter books.

I love listening to audio books during my daily commute. The Harris County Public Library system is huge and has tons of books on CD, so I don't have to buy them. They make the hour drive each way lots easier!

I am making my way through the John Grisham collection now.

here's the trick:
Buy an audiobook on ebay from a professional bookseller (that charges minimal shipping)
As soon as you win, relist the book with $4.95 as the shipping and handling charge and the minimum bid equal to what you paid for it.
When the audiobook arrives, rip it and put it on your ipod
After the auction is closed, ship the book to the highest bidder (the increased shipping costs typically covers shipping and listing prices on ebay)
Works like a charm.

Even if you want to keep it legal, ebay has an endless supply of $30 audiobooks for $5.

You need to straighten out your priorities. Watching videos is way more important than text messaging.
