I'm not gonna bash anyone that has or wants to get a tattoo...in fact my stepdaughter got one when she turned 18. Part of the reason kids today are so up on getting them is because they are still searching for an identity, and that's part of the search. The only argument we made to her was for her to think about it and be sure that it's what she wanted to do since it was going to be painful, and permanent. She thought it out and got it done...my brother has multiple tattoos as well, and while he's not known for making the best decisions in the world, it was his decision to make and I don't think less of him for it.
I'm just saying that like it or not, it's a choice that is almost guaranteed to have a stigma attached to it...you have to deal with it the same as anyone else who is in any sort of way a minority in any location whether you like it or not. It's human nature to put too much of an emphasis on physical appearance anyhow.
Oh and Lid...that has more to do with the societal and prehistoric notions that as mammals, males exist to breed with females of the species and that monogamy is a choice (for males) and not natural behavior.
