The conversion from tenure track with pensions and benefits to adjunct pay-per-class is a real thing... but it is going on everywhere, as is above-inflation tuition and fees increases and ballooning administration positions and salaries. The OU budget reduction plan includes a voluntary retirement incentive expected to yield $10 million in annual savings. Another $10 million in savings would come from the elimination of vacant faculty and staff positions and by reductions in purchasing and travel.
Is this a sign that the higher ed bubble is starting to burst?
