If you were thinking Joe Mixon would address the reason for his 2014 suspension when he met with media on Tuesday in advance of the Orange Bowl, your thoughts were incorrect. Mixon, who missed the previous season after surveillance footage captured him punching a woman at a restaurant, did not answer "non-football" questions. He entered what's known as an "Alford plea" that came with a one-year deferred sentence and 100 hours of community service. Mixon had originally pled not guilty. The incident was captured on video and the video was viewed by some media members. According to a police affidavit from the incident, the 20-year-old woman Mixon punched suffered a “fractured jaw, fractured cheek bone, fractured sinus, and fractured orbit which caused a hematoma on the left eye.” Here's how* Sooner Scoop described the video after seeing it: Following the slap (from Molitor) across the left side of his neck, Mixon unloads a violent right handed hook. Earlier this year, Oklahoma president David Boren said he believed that Mixon and Frank Shannon, who also missed the 2014 season because of a team suspension, would return to the team as "better people."
