The day the Pride Won the Game

Gene "Coach" Thrailkill transitioned the Pride to emphasize technique and sound – but not at the expense of the overriding goal to support the Sooners. During the 1983 OU-OSU game at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, the Sooners fell behind 20-3 early in the 4th quarter. Stillwater police took Thrailkill off the field for not having a sideline pass. Incensed, Thrailkill told the Pride to "start playing and don't stop until we're ahead!" The band complied, and played "Boomer Sooner" non-stop – and after roughly 300 times, the Sooners were ahead 21-20. Barry Switzer and the Sooners awarded the Pride the game ball, and labeled it "The Day The Pride Won" as proof.[2]

This always reminds me of the 2004 game up there.

The band ticked off the student section so much, they were yelling at the wrong times and thrown way off

The university ended up sending extra people to College Station because of it

Wasn't that the Tim Lasher kick off Chris Rockins facemask game?
T***s is the Kim Kardashian of college football. Hardly as attractive as she thinks and has never done a thing to justify all the fame. They chase the money in much the same way. The 'horns are a legend in their own mind. Texas destroyed the SWC and is currently sucking the life out of the Big 12.

The band deserves another game ball for last night. "Boomer Sooner" blaring constantly really pissed off the poke fans. So much so that they want them banned from their stadium...

I read through the game thread on orangepower today, & it seemed like a full third of the posts were complaints about the OU band. And yeah, there were several posts demanding that OSU ban the OU band from Boone's Farm.

Well, stop us pokies! No big play, no loud music.

After OU-Tennessee, it would not surprise me if the SEC felt the same way about Rocky Top, except their song might be more unbearable because their fans sing with their band playing it repeatedly.

So, uh, yeah, I'm saying that OU fans should not just clap along but join in the band's trolling, yes
