Now it may not be as good or have as many benefits as Europe or the United States but there is shelter, food and safety from attack in the refugee settlements. I am all for increasing aid to these refugee efforts that are set up in the Middle East. Then if/when the violence subsides they can go back to their home towns and contribute in a positive way to building a better life for themselves and their countrymen. Taking tens of millions of the refugees out of their home region and permanently displacing them into cultures that they have been show to have a very difficult time assimilating into does them or their host country little permanent good.

What is so hard to understand about that?
This exactly. These people will be needed by whatever the new Syria turns out to be. But I understand why they are leaving refugee camps - that's no way to live long term and this thing has been dragging out for years. US and Russia need to quit with the tug of war of trying to oust Assad/prop up Assad and look at the bigger picture.
