"OSU not shying away from lofty expectations"

If you want to see another example of the differences in OU and OSU, look no further than today's headline in the Daily Oklahoman. osu is picked 4th in the Pre-Season BIG XII Media poll and this is considered as a "lofty expectation"? Shows that "lofty expectation" means something entirely different when addressing OU versus osu, at least to the media.

Interesting this is the same media that has countless times written articles stating how the osu football program was on par with OU. The same media that despite sometimes significant differences in the performance on the field, gives the Okie Lite gang from Stillwater equal press coverage.

Amazing how but for an historical meltdown by Bob Stoops at the end of last' year's OU-OSU game, osu would be coming off a 5-7 season. I wonder where the media poll would have them then? How would the media spin that?

If you all want to read Jenni Carlson...
    http://newsok.com/osu-not-shying-awa...rticle/5435299

If you don't and you'd rather I read it for you instead, the context is that TCU was in OSU's position last year, with diminished expectations, no spotlight and speculation that the program may be a tier below its conference opponents, etc. etc.

BUT, if TCU can turn a lowered expectation season into almost a college football playoff berth and co-Big 12 championship (ONETRUECHAMPIONONETRUECHAMPIONONETRUECHAMPIONlolo lolololol), why cant OSU? Why can't Mason Rudolph be Trevone Boykin? Why can't their defensive depth carry them through the fact that they don't have a Weeden-Blackmon name recognition duo like their last champion?

    WHY NOT OSU?!??!?!?!?*

They also have a really big problem with "They will have one of the best defenses in the country" and "their secondary may be the best in the Big XII".

For the record, osu's defense finished last year as the 91st in total defense in the country and their pass defense was 110th best. I wonder who in the media would be giving out any kudos to the OU defense if we were heading into the 2015 Season coming off of those numbers?
For the record, OU was 51st in total defense and 117th in pass defense last year.
Both teams have about the same number of starters returning.
Amazing the double standards that are applied to the two schools, and the perceptions each school projects.

Re: "OSU not shying away from lofty expectations"

You know what's funny? OSU quarterbacks that can't make it at OSU go on to start at Big Ten schools recently -- Wes Lunt at Illinois, Daxx Garman at Maryland. Maybe we should drop this go-to-SEC chatter and just go to the land of OSU quarterback rejectees. Of course, OSU itself would not be invited.*

Not really defending Bob, but LosuR didn't have a sugar daddy then like they do now with Tboner.
Put a lid on it! Kiss it goodbye. We gave it away, and apparently thought it made sense to do so.

Only in the world of "Aggie" could you lose 5 games three years ago, lose 6 games, and absent a miracle would have been 7 in 2014, and claim that your program is on the rise, and WILL compete for a Big XII Championship this year.

And to add more to the annals of Aggie delusion, you come off a year in which your defense is ranked 91st in the country, and you somehow think you will have a great defense for 2015.

You can beat me with a rubber hose if osu were to win the Conference in 2015. I have a better chance of being sent to Pluto in a spacecraft tomorrow than osu has in winning the conference in 2015.
