I have gone over all of this before. I have a private sector job, I have all of my life. Tell me - is knowing unions help raise wages, a progressive income tax system, regulations that keep financial markets do not rip off consumers and lead us to another rescission that we have to bailout so we won’t fall into a depression socialism?
You see I live in Kansas and I have a front row seat of what the Koch’s want to inflict upon America. The Koch’s don’t mind taxes because the legislature that is a wholly owned subsidiary of the koch’s has a ton of ideas on how to raise taxes with the key feature being none of the taxes are on them. The Koch’s don’t pay income taxes in Kansas as do around 350 thousand other wealthy Kansans. ALL of the proposed tax increases hit the middle class and poor, not the wealthy.
You want to talk about a hitching your wagon to such a flawed economic system and considering all the ways they've damaged America, you need to focus on the unfettered capitalism the Kochs espouse and you very willingly follow. It was the lack of regulation that got us into the great depression and great recession and cuttin’ taxes to the wealthy didn’t keep it from happening. History has a way of repeating itself, after Hoover oversaw the greatest economic collapse in our history he ran around the country complaining how FDR brought us out of it, claiming socialism the whole way.
You talk about "being a beacon for personal freedom and liberties" but it is republicans who want to interfere with the lives and private decisions of women, birth control, abortion, same sex marraige if you can have direct deposit from YOUR paycheck to the union you belong to. Tell me - who gets to decide what are personal freedom and liberties? Is it any gun? Any ammo? You personally not paying taxes? Tell me what “personal freedom and liberties” have been taken away from YOU.

As for the Koch’s employing 50k people – does that give them the right to take over the government? It makes it ok that an unelected group of people control our state government? You can assure me that 50k jobs outweighs taking a surplus to a huge deficit? You can assure me that 50k jobs outweighs eliminating their taxes while raising everyone else’s? I thought conservatives hated redistribution of income. Are those “perceived shortcomings”? No those are real ones, ones that affect me, my family and the state I live in. If a democrat was doing the same thing as the koch’s are here in kansas – you and yours would be screaming tyranny!
