Marine General Maddog Mattis was the USCENTCOM Commander and it is no secret that he and Oblamer bumped heads...he was forced to 'retire' from CENTCOM, but mysteriously remained on active duty for 9 months after his change of command

Army General Flynn was the Defense Intelligence Agency Command and he retired...he has recently be very vocal against the jackass in chief...http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...cal-islam.html

There is ZERO love for this clown in the military ranks! He only wants yes men in uniform.

Apparently, he only wants officers who do not have trouble firing on US citizens. Several of these now retired officers have come forward and said that they think Obama is preparing for war against the US.

That is some serious tin foil hat *********gery right there.

In my view, not knowing who and for what actions these commanders did to cause
their dismissal any opinion is speculation. I do know about the missile silo boss
and the general who used counterfeit casino chips deserved to be relieved of command.
"Only wants officers who do not have trouble firing on US citizens". Really?! Sounds
like a farfetched spy thriller whodunit......

Flynn caused controversy during his Afghan stint when he went outside military channels to a think tank, publishing a monograph called Fixing Intel: A Blueprint for Making Intelligence Relevant in Afghanistan. That broadside was maligned for the delivery method but widely praised for its message—that traditional military-intelligence practitioners were too focused on targeting the enemy rather than understanding the cultural and economic environment driving the enemy to fight.

Sounds like this guy could have saved us a couple trillion dollars and a lot of blood about a decade ago.

Crazy libs? You keep proving what a dumbass inbred lemming you are. You quote this crazy rightwingnut site? The guy who wrote this article about generals getting fired, the first name listed was General Carter Hamm. It is spelled HAM. Cannot even the guys name spelled right. What a joke, go back to your world daily net and put your tin foil hat back on. From ham's own mouth - Q: General Ham – (name inaudible). Considering the fact you have a couple of weeks left, would you, in your view, say that the position that you hold was curtailed because of maybe the Libyan embassy crisis, how it was handled?GEN. HAM: No, it was not. I had had discussions with General Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and with the chief of staff of the Army as early as last spring, almost a year ago, about my timing – time to retire. And it was – it had nothing to do – the decision was made long before the – September 11th of last year and the attack on the U.S. consulate. It's just – it's time for me. And our system is such that if us – if some number of us old guys don't leave, then the young people can't get promoted. (Laughter.) And so it's time for me to move on. And I do so -- actually I'm pretty excited about what the opportunities might be. There is a part of me that will certainly miss serving in uniform. I mean, this is a family – this has been my family for nearly 40 years. And so I'll miss that aspect of it.I will most certainly miss the people not only here at Africa Command but the – many friends who I have made in Africa. And it's my hope that many, both military and civilian, will be able to sustain our friendly relations in whatever happens to me next. And then lastly, I will very joyfully tell you that I'm looking forward to spending time with my grandchildren, which is – which is always a good thing for a grandfather to do.

I have to agree with you on this. That article was full of bat**** crazy. Frankly, I have no problem firing that brass. They're probably over-entitled career officers, and I especially approve if it is part of an overall program of reducing the size of the armed services. Years ago, I read an article that analyzed how 'top heavy' the United States was in flag officers compared to other nations. It was kind of insane. The herd could use some culling.

While I respect and understand the reasons you personally blocked him, I can't make it a habit not to quote this person or that person because this person or that person may have them on ignore. That's less than reasonable, my friend.

    Sic,

Don't speak about sh!t that you have no idea about...there are certainly 'over-entitled career' people in every aspect of life, but Gen Mattis and Gen Flynn certainly do NOT fall into that category. You are really talking out of your azz on this one! I will also concede that the herd could 'culled' from time to time, but by God...cull the slackers, not the ones who make your job uncomfortable because they don't agree with your thin skinned azz!!

This article is poor journalism...at best, but there are certainly many instance of Generals suddenly retiring after disagreeing with the current administration. Brilliant men have been unceremoniously shown the door. There are many of us that actually fall under their chain of command in certain instances and the troops where quite upset by their departures!

Gen Mattis is nothing short of hero and one of the most respected Officers in the history of the USMC

“I don’t give a damn about the officers. If they don’t like what they’re doing, they can get on a plane and leave the Corps — go back where they came from. But I do care deeply about those 18- and 19-year-old Lance Corporals out on the frontlines.” ~Gen Mattis in Iraq
"If in order to kill the enemy you have to kill an innocent, don’t take the shot. Don’t create more enemies than you take out by some immoral act."
"You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it's quite fun to fight them, you know. It's a hell of a hoot. It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up there with you. I like brawling."

Sooner in Tampa, well said! Ike put Patton in the doghouse and Truman
fired MacArthur, to name two great ones, that got too big for their stars.
Lots of modern day brass have/had similar maladies...I just think that one
needs a lot more info before painting with a broad brush...

Did anyone have these same concerns when Tommie Franks split?

To be honest...there was mad rejoicing going on when Tommie packed his sh!t and went home. The Tommie that everyone saw on t.v. had a folksy drawl and seemed easy going...he was a bastard in briefs and meetings!! He belittled many Generals who worked for him (he was especially hard on the J2 and he was know to throw briefing books across conference tables in disgust)...so nope, nobody gave a $hit when left.

Yeah...Abizaid and Petraeus were both dog faces and they were both highly respected.
