One of my liberal friends posted this somewhere. They were mocking this conservative businessman of course.




I remember we had a spirited discussion about this when Obama first foolishly said it. Infuriating to me as a business owner of course.
None of those listed (GOV) things would exist without the economic activity created by all the small businessmen, like the guy pictured, that pays for all of it.

This made me realize how cut and dry the liberal vs conservative argument is.
The liberal thinks that business cannot exist without government.
The conservative knows that government cannot exist without business.

There is lots of history to support my simple statement.

It's a chicken vs egg argument, but it is very obvious that business has always come first, then government is created to meet demand.

You still don't understand Obama wasn't talking about the business, he was talking about the infrastructure that the business didn't build that brings customers to your business or you transport your goods to customers on.

The obama folk say, "no no, that is taken out of context." No it's not. He meant it how it was said. "Business cannot exist without government. You need us."
Like I said, on a primitive level that is wrong. Government was invented to protect commerce. Commerce came first, and existed without government.

Of course it's all interconnected now. But that's like saying that lumber guy didn't build his business, it was his lumber supply company that enabled him to thrive. Or the company that built his building.

How he said it was he was talking about the American system, roads ect. You are reading into it what the republican party wants you to read into it. Anything can be taken out of context. Tell me who built the roads and educated the people who work for you and are your customers? He gave the example of the internet that proves his point.

I think most taxpayers realize that the government can play a role in developing infrastructure but which level of government performs this function the best? I think the States are more efficient and better atuned to allocating resources for infrastructure need. We should abolish the Federal Department of Education, the Interior, Department of Energy, Department of Labor and even the Department of Transportation.

I also think a lot of the functions of government could be turned over to private business.

Most conservatives have a problem with the federal government trying to take power and resources away from the states in an attempt to make everything a one-size-fits-all scheme.

The problem I have is the Government as envisioned by the left is being used to equalize outcomes. Ensuring an equal playing field is a reasonable function. After that, it should get the hell out of the way and let folks chase their dreams and aspirations to the best of their abilities and their level of preparation to be successful in whatever they choose.
