    Re: Shepherd/Neal Injuries

From the replays, it didn't look like Shepard took a shot to the groin, but the way he reacted... was like he did. That's usually a groin pull. They can be mild, or severe. They can clear up fast, or linger an entire year. He was smiling, being carted off... but he's an upbeat kid. Hoping its just a mild strain.

    Re: Shepherd Injury

    Strained groin.

Stoops said he wanted to come back (and probably would have), but it was already 21-7 and they felt like it would be better for him to sit out. We're going to need him at 100% next week.

Also, Keith Ford wasn't quite 100% with his cuts, so he was held out. Could have gone if he played another position, but since he uses his cuts so much in his running style, they want him to be at 100%

I'd be hard pressed to find a guy, pound for pound, with Shepards instincts and ability. Could be my favorite Sooner to watch since broyles and /or Clayton. The guy is fearless.

Glad they didn't let him back in and hope he will be available tomorrow. This gave the opportunity to see Knight throw it to other guys (we saw a bit of that on the drive that ended in a missed FG at the end of the K state game)

It was a good game to make Knight throw to other receivers.

Yep. It ended up being a blessing in disguise. It forced Young and Quick to be productive, which helps tremendously with their confidence and the team's confidence in them.

You laugh, but I think he just took a shot to the nuts (Shepard, not Dean).

I've rewatched that play about 15 times, and Shepard doesn't not react like a guy that just suffered a groin strain (I've had a couple, and I never grabbed my nuts, it's always inner thigh, when it meets the pelvis). I think he came down on the defenders shoulder and it jammed his sack. He, almost immediately, grabs his balls and as time passes, it gets worse and he goes down (we've all felt that pain).

He was smiling and laughing as they were taking him off of the field. I don't think there was a muscle strain at all. By the time he was feeling 'better', the game was already out of hand, and why risk it if there could be any kind of injury?!

On the cart, he was acting like it was a groin strain. Personally, I think he took a shot to the jewels and got a minor strain when he did the semi-splits after he took the shot.
