Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons

Saw them live tonight here in PHX. Was a very good show, and they played all the songs I required of them, except for CANDY GIRL and MARLENA. The other one I wanted to hear a lot they did play-BEGGIN'. The show was good, and they played for over 2 hours. I don't know Frankie's age, haven't looked it up. The Four Seasons were all young guys, but they did a good job of backing him up.

If you like his music, he still does it well, and there was a lot of exuberance in the performance. I was told one of the original Four Seasons was the primary song writer for their hits. I don't know his name.

I just googled Frankie Valli. the mofo is 80 effing years old!!!

Jersey Boys was pretty good for a biographical presentation of the group.

The guy who played Frankie did well considering the demands of the role.

It was a good, not great movie.

Very lucky you got to see the Real Deal.

I wasn't even aware Frankie was still with us, let alone performing and touring. He hasn't played Phoenix in over 10 years, and this is the first opportunity I knew of to see his show. It was worth going.

Last Halloween I got lucky to see Allen Toussaint playing on a street stage in Chinatown.

    He was still goin' strong.

I liked a lot of those NOLA guys. Lloyd Price, Aaron Neville, Chris Kenner, Bennie Spellman, Ernie K-Doe, Irma Thomas, and of course the great Fats Domino. I would LOVE to see a show with Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and Little Richard...CROSSOVER GIANTS OF THE 50'S...HOLY MACKEREL would that draw a crowd!

On a related note, one of the primary people behind the 4 Seasons and the whole "Jersey Boys" sound passed yesterday.

Bob Gaudio was an original member and he wrote many of their hit songs. He is the tall, slender one who was portrayed as straight-laced in Jersey Boys, in contrast to a couple of members who were ex-cons. Gaudio is still going strong in the music business and was behind the Jersey Boys musical.

I saw Johnny Rivers at a casino earlier this year. He is in his early 70s and looks and sounds great. In fact, he sounds exactly like he did in his hits from the 60s and 70s. He has obviously taken great care of himself and appears more like someone in his 50s.

If you get a chance to see Blondie live, it's worth it. She's around 70, and still puts on a great show. The WHO still do a great job, and they're around 70, as do Eric Burdon and the Animals.(much like Frankie Valli, Burdon's backup group is mostly young folks, instead of the original backups). Burdon still has an excellent, and strong voice.
