I assume all the children were killed also. Just an example of religious extremism run amok. It is a good thing Christianity came along. When will Islam ever have its period of enlightenment?

I don't know if The Thirty Years War dovetails exactly with what we are seeing in Mideast but I think comparisons can be drawn. It will(is) be ugly.

I can appreciate the differences between a time when humans were more brutal and had a lower regard for life than we do today. It is so amazing that such a large religous movement seems to be frozen in time.

And to answer the OP's question, give every person who wants to, 24 hours
to vacate the premises and then turn the whole dayum place to glass...Syria,
Iran, in particular. Short of that, tell 'em, "we're comin fer ya" and you won't
see/hear it comin....The only thing those folks seem to understand....

It's fashionable in the progressive crowd to disavow any form of self-defense, be that for a country, or even their own person. It doesn't fit with the "I'm a victim" mentality they wallow in.
