De’Mond Parker among 52 indicted in Tulsa gang drug trafficking

    Very scary, sad story.

The Hoover Crips brought $10 million worth of cocaine — more than 600 kilograms — and marijuana through Tulsa over a three-year period, Williams said. He said the drugs came from cartels in Mexico and made their way through Dallas, Oklahoma City and Tulsa as they moved toward Ohio and the northeastern United States.

Among those indicted was former University of Oklahoma and NFL star De’Mond Parker, aka “Running Back,” listed in the indictment as Demonn Parker.
Check out the lengthy indictment here. De'Mond's gang nickname was apparently "Running Back"

Man that sucks. I always liked his stop and start turn on a dime running. What a waste.

When he was with the Packers two seasons, he would fan off his shoes when he made it to the endzone. I was too young for OU at the time, so I asked my older brother (who suffered through the mid-late 90s with the rest of you) if he did that in college.

I had no idea that celebrating was as frowned upon as it was in the college game after growing up around Packers football and nothing else

    Well, this sucks.

Can we start the season now? Off season has certainly fallen off a cliff as of late.

    Update: Bonded out.

Another count notes that Parker, also known as "Running Back," was at his house, which was known as "Sooner Headquarters."

David Boren is probably looking for a way to suspend him for the season.

NFL star? That's quite a stretch.

Agree, he was more of a college star than an NFL star. Two seasons where half-played and a third where he didn't play at all.

Yes, there were some great players, and as you point out even some great coaches (Phil Bennett, too).

But De'Mond was special. I believe to this day, if he had stuck around for '99 he would have exploded onto the national scene and worked his way to a high draft pick. The entire trajectory of his career could have changed.

And now, instead, he's tying OU to a disgusting crime ring.

I agree 100%. I think we would have gone undefeated in 1999. He would've made that much difference.

His life is full of bad choices.

    leaving when Stoops came.

getting busted for smoking weed in his parked car (wasn't he an asthmatic btw?)

    and now this bust.

    sad.

No, dog...the best of the Blake years came from Travian Smith. Anyone at the '97 Syracuse game...unreal.

Someone name me another player - Sooner or otherwise - who played LB, DE, and returned kickoffs. Travian is the most underappreciated beast ever to wear the Crimson and Cream.

Travian never left Tatum, even after a pro career with the Oakland Raiders. His son, Kyshaun, is a senior and already has a couple of offers from mid-majors:

Awesome memories of Travian, during a rare Sooner football era that was largely void of good memories. And, best of luck to his son as well. Maybe he'll have a breakout year and OU will offer him late.

The East Texas football folk at Smoaky.com talk him up pretty good. Starts at LB for Tatum and is also a backup QB for them. Real athlete, like his dad:
