As it turns out, that sentiment isn't all that unusual on the far left of American politics. According to a new Pew Research Center study, only 40 percent of consistently liberal Americans say they often feel proud to be Americans.
The other 60 percent say that doesn't describe them.

the government? the President? Our foreign policy? our image in the world? our job market?

Our liberty. We still have a chance to retain it, but it is slipping away.

Just a few of my reasons:
It's my home...
Our economy...its one of the best in the world or didnt you know that?
Our republic (democracy). Hard to find many places in the world that are as good...did you miss that?
Our standard of living....again, if you haven't noticed, we have millions of foreigners from around the world clamoring to get into the US...
Our technological achievements throughout our history...surely you didn't miss that too
The land itself...hard to find any other countries that even compare,
Our roads, highways, airports, etc...
Our universities are among the best in the world.
Our entertainment industry from movies to TV...the best in the world
Our military...the best in the world.
Our space program...the best in the world (well, at least when we use it)
I could go on and on but you get my drift...America isn't always "right" and it certainly has some flaws but I feel very proud and lucky to be an American...how about you?
I am proud of what this country and it's people have accomplished.
I am not proud of the growth of government and the way it
subsidizes ignorance, poor personal choices and an entitlement
mentality. You could throw in the growing = corporate-government fascism
trend in the things I don't like about the country.

I can be proud of other Americans accomplishments just like OU football...that's not too hard for you to follow...is it?

Okay, let's look at SCOTUS telling us that corporate America is
human(people) so they are entitled to free speech, uber money in politics,
etc. Yup, it's 'Merica, c'mon yew guys, let's dew it!!! It appears the
answer is "let the states do it, wow, just what we need, 50 different
approaches to the same problem. Ummm, I guess I'd like some kind
of reasonable approach....aint likely to happen here, but I'm eager to
hear all the solutions!.......BOOMER...
Fifty different approaches is exactly what is needed. That way we can see what works in a practical application and those states with systems that don't work can copy those that do. Also I can move the hell out of a state that adopts a totalitarian mind set to governance. Not be locked into a one size fits all liberal utopia.

I am proud that our country produces people like Vet who go and do the dirty work that lets the rest of us live with the freedoms we have.
so what's the point in patting yourself on the back for it, or denigrating someone that doesn't?
maybe some people can't ignore the bad **** for the waning good **** anymore. and the good **** for the most part is from things most of us had nothing to do with, or is basically ancient history at this point
