New Big XII logo

I think the new logo has been leaked about 50 times in the past month, but today the Big XII made it "official":



So, I have a question about this...

Would this have been the perfect time to rename the conference? Since I'm sure that there will be a lot of money spent on new letterhead, digital graphics, etc., wouldn't this have been a perfect opportunity to change the conference name to accurately reflect the conference? Maybe something non-numeral.

Thoughts? I know this isn't exactly the best conversation starter, but there's just not a lot going on right now.

Well, X has been spoken for, for about 100 years. And heaven forbid we go outside the "numbers" for a name.

With all the smart people throughout the conference, you'd think someone could come up with a better name/logo.

Yeah they were showing the new logo in the Big 12 men's and women's basketball tournament programs back in March.

I do not like the logo. The old one had a level of class. This looks like something a teenager made up.

As for the name, the name Big 12 has a lot of name recognition. I wouldn't want to do away with that. If you try to make up a new name it would sound like one of those mid-major conferences to my ear.

I'd much rather we add BYU and Louisville but I suppose that last ship has sailed.

I guess it is another promotion to the "curve?" LAME! Blame Texas for the debacle of the Big XII, with their greed, and underhanded practices.

Actually, my sentiment exactly! Why bother with such a trivial logo? I always wonder what committees do, now I know.

I only might care if they force us to put this on all our uniforms like you see some other conferences do like the Pac 12, SEC, etc.

They'll probably make us put it on our field, but it's better that goes on there than a corportate sponsor or something Arena league I guess

Like said, we can't use Big 10 and would be silly to change from Big 12 in case of expansion in the future. I have no problem with the new logo.
