Bob Stoops gets paid $13,698 per day

That's a hell of a lot of money, and he needs to do what is necessary to correct the defensive problems we have. Giving up over a half mile in yardage and 86 points in two games should be unacceptable to Bob, BV the admins and the fans.

I don't know if canning Brent V. is the answer but keeping the status quo damn sure isn't. We need a philosophy overhaul on the defensive side of the ball. And if Bob isn't willing to do what ever it takes to correct it, he's not earning his keep.

Re: Bob Stoops gets paid $13,698 per day

agreed. if he doens't recognize that there is something wrong with the performance of the secondary, then he should be ashamed to get paid that much. i also uderstand that there are plenty of other teams around the country that would love to have 10+ wins per season (avg), but he is getting paid an awful lot of money to be better than what other school only hope for. if he doesn't see that something is wrong and make the changes to correct them, then--IMHO-- he doesn't deserve the pay he s getting. if i don't do what is expected of me at work, i can lose my job, and the money that goes with it. granted, no one really knows what kind of conversations Bob has had with the AD and admins, but if those convoerstations aren't taking place, then they should be.

i'm not calling for anyone to be fired....yet, but i do expect corrective actions to be taken. i can't stand seeing mediocre to terrible teams having their career days against us year after year. teams continuously break their school records against us, and that is just unacceptable for a program as storied and entrenched in traditions as OUrs.

someone in another thread posed the question, " how would you rate this season on a scale of 1-10" i had to think hard about ie, but ultimately i'd give it a 4--with or without a win over the pokes. mostly becuase of two main factors: 1) our home winning streak was taken by a ****ty TT team that had no business being in that game. 2) we lost to a team that--in the history of their program-- had never beaten us before. that is just stupid. had we lost at home to a team that is actually considered a good-gerat team, i could understand. Tech is neither. As for Baylor, they have moments of brilliance, and RGIII is really good, but they should never have beat us. never.

all in all, the defense has been consistantly inconsistant--at best. there are times were they do great things, and then turn around and look like the defense for the lingrie bowl. too much nicknaming, and entitlement issues, not enough preperation, and execution. they should be coming out with something to prove every week. it all starts and ends with the head ball coach. you make that much money, you are responsible for everything. everything.

Where should we start? Should I get you the numbers or websites to the local skywritters or billboard companies. Seemed to work real well for UT and Denver....

The OP is right. With the amount of money Stoops makes, he should use that dough to fix the team. He should start "donating" to the very best recruits in the country.

Hate to throw statistics at your temper tantrum, but Stoops has the highest winning percentage of any active D1 coach at .811. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ing_percentage

Maybe if Bob would come out and say "this is unacceptable, we are going to take the measures necessary to correct these problems. Whether it be changing our defensive philosophy, changing coaches or giving other players a chance, this problem WILL be resolved!" Maybe some fans wouldn't be so frustrated, instead we get the same old "we've had a great deal of success", "we won championships" crap, then nothing changes, we go out and give up 45 points and 600 yards, then it's wash rinse and repeat.

I don't care if he gets paid 50 mill a year, as long as he's willing to do WHATEVER is needed to get the job done.

I take that back...Chris Peterson has a higher winning percentage at .920. We should fire Stoops and hire Peterson.

I hear ya...just saying it's a slippery slope to start subjectively judging whether someone is overpaid or not relative to other professions. In my humble opinion.
