    Flood Photos/Video

We're having serious flooding issues here in Huskerland, no doubt due to our having left the Big 12.

This evening my wife and I took a plane up to check things out; there was so much more water than we'd anticipated. Check out the videos; those do the best job of communicating just how huge the thing is. Normally it's no more than 200 yards across in the area.

And they still haven't hit full bore release from Gavins Point yet. The railroad has pulled all their switch boxes along the river, and have flagmen to clear the last trains out. It's certainly made my life more interesting as I run a lot of corn and beans into end users along the river, and they are all shutting down. Something like 20% of the US Soybean Crushing Capacity is along the Missouri River at Sioux City, Omaha/CB, and St. Joes, as well as one of the largest corn mills in the US at Blair, and the main south bound export elevator for rail.
