the price for the seemingly available coaches is going up..
should we get into a bidding war?
what do you think we should pay to get our man?

2 mil is good money but not enuf to convince a top 20 coach to come to norman.
i don't think we'll pay more than that....and i'm not sure we should.
Enough to get a guy that can coach and recruit at OU
I am afraid Joe C feels the need to pay for a "name". I'll just take a good all around coach.
Ah, young jedi, you are starting to get it...
We shouldn't have to pay a coach 2million to come here.
Why not make their salary incentive based with the potential to make more?
Why not do something that gives the coach incentive to succeed even more?
Don't freak out the following is just an example:
Base Pay: $750,000
Win 20 Games: $50,000
Conference Champion (Reg Season): $250,000
Conference Champion (Tourney): $150,000
Make the NCAA Tourney: $75,000
Make the sweet 16: $25,000
Make the Elite 8: $50,000
Make the Final Four: $75,000
Make the NC: $100,000
Win a National Championship: $500,000
If the coach makes ever incentive then he would make $2,025,000 a year.
Give him 3 seasons to make the NCAAs. Give him 5 years to do better than that. If he makes the NCAAs each of his first three season, then negotiate a newer contract, but just raise his base pay to something like 900,000 or 1 mil.
We shouldn't just fork out a guarantee of $2 Mil+ just to get a coach here that hasnt proved to us that he can turn this program around. And if he can, reward him dearly for doing so!
Pastner is no longer available. Signed a 5 year extension with Memphis.

Well hell...pay me $1.5 mill and I guess I'll do it.
If he got us to the sweet 16, he probably would want more pay..but you stick to the first three years...
If he makes every year, then give it to him. If not, then say, we will negotiate what you are worth to us.
Keep the base pay low and make him earn the rest that he wants. If a coach is scared of something like that, then they are just looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and could care less about the program!
Buzz wants the job. Joe c wont pay the buyout.
And lift up my brother
To honor this game!
And if you were a coach worth a ****, you would not be scared of it.
Basically what I purposed was to see what coaches really wanted to see the program get back to being a top 20 team or better.
If a coach likes a challenge, then he wouldnt shy away from it.
and 87...I would basically offer that very thing to the likes of Evans or Marshall. Not something like $400K as a base.
Maybe drop it to 600 or 700K to start the first contract out.
