How would you go about destroying earth?

I don't mean destroying it in the hippie, "Oh god there's plastic in this turtle's belly" way.

I don't even mean a nuclear holocaust.

I mean, how could man physically destroy a planet?*

Create enough antimatter that it accidentally swallows the planet?

Could we go Armageddon style and deep core drill down and pack in enough nukes to cause the planet to explode?

How do we get this done?

Anything blasted from in the interior of the Earth is impossible due to the molten core. Meaning the ordinance wouldn't survive the trip unless packaged in some heat proof container.

I don't know if we have the technology to destroy the earth in one instant. Going Dr. Evil style with a drill filled with nukes seems the most realistic way.

Earth could not be destroyed short of a planet sized impact (larger than Mars because that already happened and was how the moon was formed) or if the sun were to expand past our orbit. Of course the bible talks about stars falling out of the sky to Earth but I don't seeing that happening.

Yes, there is some confusion between destroying the Earth versus making the surface or large parts of it unihabitable to if not all life, us (there are types of life that thrive in boiling-hot springs and underneath miles of ice, at the bottom of the ocean and you get the idea but plenty of places where we can't survive).

As far as the latter, all we have to do is continue what we are doing.

Now to destroy an entire planet, well the Sun thing has been mentioned and that will occur. If you can manage to be alive in a couple of billion years you (and everything else on the planet) will have a front row seat to experience what it will be like to be inside the envelope of an expanding star.

Also mentioned was the colliding planetary-sized body with the Earth, which as mentioned, happened a long time ago. So to destroy the Earth, we need a bigger collider (smaller ones just make the surface unihabitable as previously discussed).

In a similar vein, if a rogue star or black hole passed close enough to the Earth, it could be torn apart by gravitational forces.

The explosives-in-the-core thing won't work since we don't have enough and we could not get them to the core and couldn't keep them intact to detonate if we did due to the extreme heat (would be a helluva an achievement in itself if we could even drill through the mantle, let alone reach the core).

Aliens could do it. We have seen it done in books and movies: Douglas Adam's The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy when the Vogons destroyed the Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass and Star Wars when the Death Star destroyed Aldabaran. These appeared to be beam/energy weapons. They'd have to be very powerful ones to cause an entire planet to explode. If an alien race had access to that sort of power, why would they bother exploding planets with it?

Then there is the antimatter card. Won't be easy coming up with that much, assuming it will take some quantity beyond our ability to generate (which goes back to enormous amount of power thing, why bother?).
