    D1 Coaching News

Tennessee hires Missouri States head coach, Cuonzo Martin

Mizzou Looking at Matt Painter from Purdue-This would be a great hire for Mizzou
Ranger Reese of OVJ country, Patrollin tha hood.

With a record of 109-23 (.826) and six Big 12 championships in 10 seasons, Stoops has reason to be arrogant. But he is not. He is somewhere between humble and unimpressed.

Painter going from Purdue would be at best a lateral move and possibly more a step back.

Another name added by The Oklahoman:

With Buzz Williams reportedly no longer on Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione's list to fill the men's basketball coaching vacancy, Brigham Young's Dave Rose has emerged as a viable candidate, according to sources.

Rose, 53, has led the Cougars to six consecutive 20-win seasons, highlighted by BYU recently making its first Sweet Sixteen appearance in 30 years.

In six seasons at BYU, Rose has compiled a 159-45 record, including a school-best 32-5 record this season.

Co-captain of Houston's 1983 national runner-up team that featured future NBA stars Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon, Rose took over for Steve Cleveland in 2005. He inherited a 9-21 team, and BYU posted a 20-9 record his debut season, the second best turnaround nationally.

Dean Blevins just said don't rule out Buzz Williams as he is waiting to see what Marquette is going to offer -- he thinks the cost to get Williams might be more than OU wants to pay but then left the door open. Also said it will not be a young coach but someone with more experience. He mentioned Krueger and Rose from BYU. IOTW -- Blevins doesn't seem to know much more than all of our speculation!

We should hire that Stanford women's coach for our men's program. Tara or Trish(whatever) Vandeveer. She kicks a*s, and gets 'er done, baby.
Put a lid on it! Kiss it goodbye. We gave it away, and apparently thought it made sense to do so.

I think you might have a few interesting occasions in the coaches' offices if that happened. A few years ago she accused Sherri of instructing one of her players (Caulfield, IIRC) to take out one of Stanford's players, & I don't mean to lunch. 2-3 years later, OU & Stanford hooked up again in the tourney, & the subject of that incident came up. Sherri brought a tape of it & told the press to decide for themselves. Lil' Tara was NOT pleased.

So, you copy and paste two of your posts in two different threads?

Afraid it wont be read or you're not getting enough attention?

If you go to the bottom of the Wikipedia page here, you can see all coaching changes this year in D-1.

Here are the notables that have new guys already in place:

Arkansas fired John Pelphrey, hired Mike Anderson
Bradley did not renew Jim Les, hired Geno Ford
Northern Illinois fired Ricardo Patton, hired Mark Montgomery
Pepperdine's Tom Asbury retired, hired Marty Wilson
Providence fired Keno Davis, hired Ed Cooley
Tennessee fired Bruce Pearl, hired Cuonzo Martin
Texas Tech fired Pat Knight, hired Billy Gillispie

ZOUNDS! I DID NOT KNOW THAT! Then, hire Vandeveer for the women's program, and Sherri can coach the men.

I'm concerned that Rose is living on the fact that he had an all American.

According Gotlieb basically OU sucks as a job and no one wants it. Wonder how bad OSU will be when we go back to regularly kicking their butts.

I don't just hate Satanford because they seem to have our number lately in the postseason. It's the people that make Satanford so satanic and avoidable.

If I want a big group of nerds to taunt me for attending a public university, the Cameron Crazies are... "zounds" (thx for that word rush) better than anything those losers in their little Satanford band do.

    Screw you, Satanford.

Could care less about getting attention -- it was pertinent to both threads IMO! If there were not so many threads on the same subject, wouldn't have posted to two threads.
