NBA Thread... (re: potential Carmelo trades)

...so now that Carmelo's finally come out and said it, I was trying to come up with trades that would work, and this is the only one that I think 1) would work, and 2) the Nuggets may consider. (Especially if some draft picks from the Knicks get involved...)

The Knickerbockers get: Carmelo Anthony

The Nuggets get: Anthony Randolph and Landry Fields (young talent; also, talent the Nugs are reported to be interested in) along with Kelenna Azubuike (help replace Carmelo's lost scoring) and Eddy Curry (only for the cap room - he's cut and gone after this year anyway) to even the rest of it out.

It works in the trade machine.

This saddens me, 'cause I saw Houston trying to make a ridiculous multi-player trade involving all kinds of crap flying in every direction.

The Houston Rockets get: Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups.
The Denver Nuggets get: Yao Ming, Aaron Brooks, Kevin Martin, and Patrick Patterson.

Now, which team would "win" if that trade were to go down? 'cause the trade works...

yeah, that Knicks/Nuggets deal wouldn't be a bad deal. You'd have a ton of cap space with Curry's deal coming off the books...also have K Mart's and JR Smith's contracts up at the end of the year....that would allow them to go after a big time free agent, but the problem is there aren't really any big free agents this offseason outside of Tony Parker, but I don't expect the Spurs to let him go.

Suns get: Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus, Marcin Gortat, and a 2011 first round pick.
Wizards get: Rashard Lewis.

Yeah there was a whole lot of buzz about this going down a few days ago, it was really just a matter of when the trigger was pulled. Obviously Orlando's move to keep up with Miami and Boston, I'm just not sure this move takes them over the top.

They did well in dumping Lewis and Carter I think, but it seems like they are really taking on 3 big time wild cards in Richardson, Turk, and Arenas, and I don't really think it improves you that much.
