Truck - which one to buy?

    Toyota, Ford, or Dodge?

Need to tow a bay boat, and occasionally need 4x4.

I won't consider a GM for multiple reasons.

It seems the only one made in the U.S. is the Toyota.

My '02 Ram 4x4 is tired.

According to Ford, the F-Series comes off the line in Dearborn and Claycomo, Mo.

I've heard the Toyotas are nice, but I'd go with Dodge.

    F-150 is Canada i believe.

The VIN number will tell you country of origin. If the first number on the 17 digit VIN is a 1, it's made in the US. If it's a J, it's made in Japan. #2 is Canada and 3 is Mexico.

Most of the parts for the Toyota are Nippon, etc aka Japanese origin. So buy a ford if you hate GM.

btw, tundras are made in *
    .

....and now please direct your attention to the field and J. Clayton Feaver will lead us in a moment of prayer...

They are just Ram now, Fiat has made the trucks a separate brand from Dodge.

It pains me as a chevy guy to say buy the Ford. They are only one to make it without a gub'ment handout.
They are assembled in US, Canada, and Mexico. Just check the door stamp or VIN to be sure you get an American one.

My brother recently got a ford F250 4x4 with a Cummins turbo diesel. It is a full four door. He pulls a 25 ft travel trailer through the mountains and the thing just purrs. It would be my choice.

    Okay, I got the Dodge.

At least I have experience with them.

    It's the QuadCab, Hemi, 4x4.

Considering my old was a time bomb, (120k miles, overheating and a jerky transmission) I pretty much had no choice if I was going to get any amount for a trade-in.

The Toyota lost out on appointments such as blue tooth, sirius, inverter, etc.

The Fords just keep getting uglier (1/2) tons, and the I don't need the 3/4 ton.

    Friggin payments...again.

Mine had a Claycomo sticker in the passenger side lower corner of the windshield. Makes it a bit easier to identify.

So basically, you traded off your old POS Dodge and got a new POS Dodge. That takes some genius right there.

Let me get this straight, your truck only had 120K on it and was overheating and losing the tranny right? Right. So you go buy the same POS again? You are an aggie, ain't ya?

I only buy Ford anymore. I've got an 09 F-150, an 85 F-250 diesel, and an 09 F-350 diesel. I've owned them all (Dodge, Chevy, Toyota), and the Ford has out-performed them all. I haul several different trailers with them, run them through the mud and muck, have cattle bashing them, etc. They far out-perform any of the other trucks I've owned. I especially like the F-150. It's got the small V-8, and gets ~18.5 mpg on average. On the highway, it's over 20. None of my Fords (or the ones I've owned previous to the current fleet) have ever spent a day in the shop, and none of them had overheating or tranny problems before I sold them - and all of them had far more miles than 120K.

I have the 08 f150 4x4 and I heart it a lot...Looks nice when its cleaned up and I can run over stuff, haul trailers, and take it through about anything....Its got the 5.4 so the mileage isn't super, but its not bad considering the add on weight of the accessories it carries..

Ummm you won't buy GM because of government handouts yet Chrysler took government handouts

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your Italian truck.

The only problem is that the Fords look like one of those ghey guys on the home shows designed it.

I mean, I'm sure you're straight and all, but I just don't want to attract unwanted attention from the same sex.

If Ford ever gets to having a straight man on the design team again, I'll probably buy one.

I have a pretty good warranty so any problems will be at the $$ of Dodge.

Besides, I haven't heard too many quality complaints on their Hemis. My last one was just too small of a V8, but I don't need another 3/4 ton either.

The reason I won't buy a GM is because GM is single-handedly responsible for the emboldening of the UAW into a political force for the left.
