Not sure why, but the site would not load.
Wasnt my connection because I could go everywhere else but here.

Yeah - it's the database backup that runs every day at that time that's gumming things up. I am working on rescheduling that and cutting it down from every day to fix that problem.

Have you tried running the board in Throttle mode when it is doing back-ups?
It will not totally shut the board down, but I think you can set up vbulletin to disallow sigs and avatars during that period. I think you can also disallow PMs and stuff too when it is in throttle mode.
I may not be correct on that, but I know I can throttle the board at OVPH when doing back ups. But over there, it is a more updated version of vBulletin.

This version doesn't have that. However, I will be upgrading it to the newest version within the next few months - certainly before football season. We can use that mode to automatically adjust during games and stuff.

I've also been having problems this week around 7am. Getting the 503 error message.
It is lasting long and longer every day.
Phil, may I suggest, deleting members that have not been active for at least 6 months? Purge threads that have not had a response or reply for at least the last 180 days?
That or maybe set the back up to download straight to your computer instead of on the server. Then upload it using an FTP to the server.
Those are the things I do at ovph and it does not hinder any operations there.
