Why stop at student loans, why not mortgages? or auto loans?? How bout credit cards???
mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards arent "necessary" in order to be a productive member of society...we are told our whole lives that we must go to college and get a degree so we can get a good job and unfortunately when I went to college my mother was a single parent and couldnt afford to pay for it so I had to use loans to go with my schollys.
So now ive done what I was supposed to and now my SL balance is more than my yearly income...also, I think the point is that if they are gonna bailout the criminal fat cats why not those of us who did the right thing

Well, you need shelter to live , a car to get to a job and make a living and credit cards to basically buy anything nowadays. How are those not just as or more than "necessary" then?????
I'd say those are all a hell of a lot more valuable than a "good" education at like okie state community college.
Don't want to have a payment? Don't borrow someone else's money. Now even middle class college kids are victims. Where will this mentality end? Pay off my mortgage while we're at it. I have to have a place to live. I was told my whole life that buying a house is the right thing to do. Now my mortgage balance is more than my yearly income.
