I cannot believe that schools in Oklahoma cancelled because it is cold. Back in the day, we never cancelled school because it was cold. It won't be long before school will be cancelled because it is too windy, partly cloudy, or too nice a day to be in school. Give me a break!

well the reason they cancelled OKC pub schools is because many of the kids walk 2+ miles to school on a daily basis, consider they would be walking at 7 in the morning or so, im sure it was a good decision.

OKC isn't full of SUV and soccer moms, especially on the southside. In my buildling on Wed., there were 5 classrooms without heat. There's no learning going on when you have to double up classrooms for heat.

yeah, many schools are without heat. closing down is for the best. its a sad reality of what okc public schools are. i moved to moore public schools for a reason.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Those up north are thinking..........REALLY??? Put a coat on and deal with it.
They shut down the whole state's schools and all government offices here both Thursday and Friday due to the "cold". Personally, I think they knew everyone was going to be worthless at work Thursday and was going to call in Friday, but longtime residents say this happens all the time.
I do know the elevator at my place is shorted out due to a burst pipe.

That makes a lot of sense - heating one classroom vs. 25 separate homes. What at the parents supposed to do?
I remember having to ride my motorbike to school in 10 degrees weather because that would be the only way I could stay after school for basketball practice. I froze my *** off but I didn't complain. Kids today probably need to drink more fresh cows milk and eat more red meat.
